Accepting these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Botopsy Lab. By using the website, creating an account, joining the beta, or accessing a workspace, you agree to these terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. If you use Botopsy Lab for an employer, school, or other organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these terms for that organisation.

If you do not agree, do not create an account or use a managed workspace. Public pages may still be viewed subject to these terms.

Eligibility and account security

You must be able to form a binding agreement where you live. Botopsy Lab is not intended for children under 13. If you are below the age of legal majority, a parent, guardian, or authorised educational institution must approve your use.

Provide accurate information, keep credentials and invitation codes confidential, and notify [email protected] promptly if you suspect unauthorised account use. You are responsible for activity under your account unless applicable law provides otherwise.

The service and beta access

Botopsy Lab provides public learning material, interactive playgrounds, courses, incident workspaces, automated checks, progress records, and project-report tools. Features and availability depend on your access level, device, region, and current service capacity.

All courses, cases, playgrounds, and capstones are free. Live cloud workspaces are metered: every account receives a daily free credit allowance, and remote compute is capacity-controlled and may have time, storage, concurrency, or usage limits. Features may be incomplete, change without full notice, or produce errors. We may pause or withdraw access to protect security, capacity, other learners, or the service.

Pro compute is announced at USD 18 per month for a larger credit allowance and is separate from the free content. Checkout is not enabled yet, and Botopsy Lab does not currently collect payment or card details. Before accepting payment, Botopsy Lab will show the included usage, any renewal or expiry terms, taxes, cancellation process, and refund policy and will ask you to accept the applicable paid terms.

Acceptable use

• Use workspaces only for lawful robotics education, assigned projects, and the activities described by the product.
• Do not access or probe another user's account or data, escape containers, attack infrastructure, mine cryptocurrency, distribute malware, or bypass safety controls and quotas.
• Do not upload secrets, regulated data, unlawful material, or personal data that is not needed for a learning activity.
• Do not copy, scrape, resell, or systematically redistribute the service, course library, hidden tests, private incident solutions, or another learner's evidence.
• Do not interfere with grading, impersonate another person, or misrepresent an unverified result as a verified Botopsy Lab report.
• Report suspected security issues to [email protected] and follow the responsible-disclosure instructions on the Security page.

Course content and product rights

Botopsy Lab and its licensors own the website, course text, case designs, diagrams, lab images, graders, hidden tests, branding, and software except where a separate open-source licence says otherwise. While you comply with these terms, Botopsy Lab gives you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the service for its intended educational purpose.

No right is granted to publish answer keys, hidden tests, complete private incident solutions, or materials that would undermine the learning or assessment experience. You may describe skills you learned and share your own public project reports.

Your work and public reports

You retain ownership of original code, notes, evidence, and explanations you create. You give Botopsy Lab a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, copy, run, grade, adapt for technical formatting, and display that work only as needed to operate, secure, improve, and support the service.

Projects remain private unless you choose to publish them. When you publish a report, you give Botopsy Lab permission to display and distribute it through the service until you unpublish or delete it, subject to reasonable backup and caching periods. You must have the rights to anything you submit and must remove secrets and third-party confidential information before publication.

Feedback and suggestions may be used to improve Botopsy Lab without payment or attribution, but this does not transfer ownership of your project work.

Verification and educational use

A verified result means the configured checks passed in the recorded environment at that time. Automated checks may not detect every defect. Botopsy Lab reports and completion records are educational evidence, not accredited degrees, professional licences, safety certifications, or guarantees of competence, employment, or performance on another system.

Do not rely on course output as the sole basis for operating a physical robot or safety-critical system. Independently review commands, limits, emergency stops, risk controls, hardware condition, and site-specific requirements before transferring a learning repair to real equipment.

Third-party services

Optional services such as GitHub sign-in are governed by the provider's own terms and privacy practices. Botopsy Lab is not responsible for third-party services that it does not control. Open-source software included in a lab remains subject to its applicable licence.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using Botopsy Lab at any time and can delete an account from Account settings. We may restrict or terminate access when we reasonably believe these terms were breached, the service or another person is at risk, law requires it, beta capacity ends, or the account has been inactive for an extended period after notice where practical.

Before deleting your account, export any work you want to keep. Terms that by their nature should continue after termination, including ownership, licence obligations for previously published work, disclaimers, and limits of liability, will survive.

Service changes

We may update, replace, or discontinue features, limits, curriculum, and environments. We aim to give reasonable notice when a change materially reduces an active paid service or removes stored learner work, except when an urgent security, legal, or reliability issue requires faster action. Planned maintenance and known incidents are reported on the Status page when practical.

We may update these terms. The effective date will change, and we will provide additional notice before a material update applies to an account holder. Continued use after the stated effective date means you accept the updated terms; if you do not accept them, stop using the service and delete the account.

Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by law, Botopsy Lab is provided 'as is' and 'as available'. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation, permanent availability of beta content or workspaces, or that every diagnosis, grader, report, or third-party dependency will be accurate or suitable for your purpose. Nothing in these terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Limits of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Botopsy Lab will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity arising from use of the service. Botopsy Lab's total liability for a claim relating to the free beta will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim or USD 100.

These limits do not apply where liability cannot be limited by law, including any liability that applicable law makes non-excludable. You may have mandatory consumer rights that vary by location.

Disputes and applicable law

Contact [email protected] first so we can try to resolve a concern informally. These terms do not limit your right to contact a regulator, bring a claim in a court that has jurisdiction under applicable law, or rely on mandatory consumer protections where you live.

Botopsy Lab will identify the contracting legal entity, governing law, and any venue or dispute procedure that applies before enabling Pro compute checkout. We will not use this section to retroactively impose a paid-service dispute term on earlier free use.
